What capsules can I use with the CitiZ?

This machine works exclusively with Nespresso Original capsules – not Vertuo. Try our range of classics like ESPRESSO Capriccio or decaf options like Decaffeinato Volluto. Do not reuse or refill capsules as this can damage the pump.

Can I adjust the water volume for each capsule?

Yes. The CitiZ lets you program three pre-set volumes for ristretto, espresso, and lungo. Press and hold the button to reprogram, or use the factory defaults. This gives you full control over your brew strength.

How do I clean and descale the machine?

The machine alerts you when descaling is needed. Use a Nespresso descaling kit or a mild citric acid solution. Follow the descaling programme in the manual. For daily cleaning, rinse the drip tray and water tank weekly. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.

Does the CitiZ have an auto shut-off?

Yes. It switches off automatically after 9 minutes of inactivity to save energy. You can adjust the timer up to 30 minutes via the manual. This is a great feature for busy mornings or office use.

Is the water tank removable?

Absolutely. The 1-litre tank lifts off easily for filling straight from the tap. It’s dishwasher-safe (top rack). For even better taste, consider using filtered water with a BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter 3 – it reduces limescale and improves flavour.

Can I use the CitiZ to make milk-based drinks like lattes?

The machine brews espresso only. To make lattes or cappuccinos, you’ll need a separate milk frother. We recommend the Aeroccino3 Milk Frother or Aeroccino4 Milk Frother. Alternatively, use the De’Longhi Milk Frothing Jug – Silver 350ml for manual steaming.
