About Altissio Decaffeinato
The Nespresso Vertuo Altissio Decaffeinato is a popular dark-roast decaf capsule made only for Nespresso Vertuo machines. It scores 9 out of 13 on the Nespresso intensity scale, so you get a rich, bold taste without the caffeine. When Altissio Decaffeinato walks in, you’ll notice — the full-bodied espresso taste matches the original, with the same creamy, royal feel.
This is a short-roast espresso that is full-bodied and creamy. Also, decaf does not reduce the bold taste or the thick, velvety crema on top.

Product Details
Where the Beans Come From
Like the original Altissio, this decaf blend turns heads. First, Nespresso blends Latin American Arabicas with Robusta and roasts them short and dark. Then, South American Arabicas and a touch of Brazilian Robusta add a full-bodied, bold espresso taste. As a result, you get a thick, rich crema in every cup. Finally, decaf Costa Rican Arabica softens the deep roast with a creamy cereal note and a smooth malty finish.
How It Is Roasted
Nespresso follows the classic Altissio recipe for this green coffee blend. Most of the blend uses Arabica beans with a dark, short roast. Because of this, the decaf version matches the taste of the original caffeinated Altissio. In addition, the roast brings out full body without harsh notes.
How It Tastes
Altissio Decaffeinato has a bold espresso taste with a creamy cereal note. This Vertuo capsule is full-bodied and comes with a thick, velvety crema full of rich roasty notes. The Vertuo machine uses Centrifusion technology to create that crema. You also get a smooth, creamy feel with cocoa and roasted flavours. Therefore, it stays bold and full-bodied even after decaf processing.
How to Serve It
Best enjoyed black: For example, sip a short, strong, roasty decaf espresso after a meal.
Best enjoyed with milk: Because this capsule is bold, it works well with milk. So, add frothed milk to bring out velvety cocoa notes. As a result, it makes a great decaf cappuccino or latte with a creamy, full body.
Quality and Sustainability
Nespresso picks only high-quality coffees and runs more than 70 checks from farm to cup. Each pod is blended, roasted and ground for the best taste and smell. Then Nespresso seals it in recyclable aluminium capsules — 85% of aluminium in Vertuo capsules comes from recycled sources.
Furthermore, the Nespresso AAA Program for Sustainable Quality works with Rainforest Alliance. Today, more than 80% of Nespresso coffee comes from AAA certified farms. Also, more than 40% comes from Rainforest Alliance certified farms.

Brewing Recommendations
Espresso (40 ml): Brew as intended for the fullest roasty, cocoa taste with thick velvety crema.
Black after a meal: Enjoy a short, strong, roasty decaf espresso after dinner.
Decaf cappuccino: Add frothed milk to bring out cocoa notes and add to the natural full body.
Decaf latte: Because this capsule is bold, it also works well in a latte with steamed milk.
Directions and Safety
Directions: Use only with Nespresso Vertuo machines. Insert the capsule and select Espresso — the machine reads the barcode and brews at 40 ml. Do not use with Original Line machines.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use by the best-before date on the sleeve.
Note: Decaf coffee has only trace amounts of caffeine. It suits anyone who wants to cut down on caffeine.
Frequently Asked Questions
Machine and Brew Size
What machine works with Altissio Decaffeinato?
These capsules work only with Nespresso Vertuo machines, including Vertuo Pop, Vertuo Next, Vertuo Plus and Creatista Vertuo. They do not work with Original Line machines.
What brew size should I use?
Brew as an Espresso at 40 ml (1.35 fl oz). This is the main cup size for this capsule on Vertuo machines.
Taste and Intensity
How intense is Altissio Decaffeinato?
It scores 9 out of 13, so it is a bold, full-bodied decaf espresso. Therefore, it is one of the most popular dark-roast decaf options in the Vertuo range.
What does Altissio Decaffeinato taste like?
It is full-bodied and creamy with cocoa and roasted notes. You also get a smooth feel and a soft malty cereal finish from Costa Rican Arabica. The crema is thick, rich and full of roasty character.
Does it work well with milk?
Yes. Because this capsule is bold, it pairs well with milk. Frothed milk brings out cocoa notes and makes a great decaf cappuccino or latte.
Comparisons and Recycling
Is Altissio Decaffeinato the same as regular Altissio?
Yes, in taste. The decaf version uses a short, very dark roast that matches the original Altissio. Nespresso decaffeinates all beans before roasting.
How does it compare to Fortado Decaffeinato?
Altissio Decaffeinato is an Espresso (40 ml) with intensity 9 out of 13 — creamy and roasty with cereal notes. On the other hand, Fortado Decaffeinato is a Gran Lungo (150 ml) with intensity 8 out of 11 — woody with cocoa and oak wood notes. So, Altissio is the bolder short espresso; Fortado is the larger, longer cup.
Are the capsules recyclable?
Yes. Nespresso Vertuo capsules use recyclable aluminium (85% recycled content). Return used capsules through the Nespresso recycling programme.
